How to calculate change over time in SQL?
I am completely new to SQL, so keep that in mind.
I have the daily prices of a stock in a column (and another column for dates), and want to generate another column that shows the daily percentage change of the prices [(today's price - yesterday's price)/yesterday's price ]. How do I do this?
you have to do a self join select statement
lets say you have the table
Stock
[
currentDate as Date
Price as double
]
to do your sql statement try out this
Select S1.currentDate as Today, (S1.Price – S2.Price) / S2.Price as Change
FROM
Stock as S1 INNER JOIN Stock as S2
ON S1.currentDate = (S2.currentDate+1)

Soul $5.29 (Amazon.co.uk Review) Soul is a confusing beast. We know Seal has a great voice and can easily imagine him being covering golden oldies with aplomb. Yet this collection of soul favourites is frustratingly patchy. Opener “A Change Is Gonna Come” is impassioned and beautifully arranged (the album is helmed by David Foster of Celebrity Duets fame, who has made sure it sounds fresh and compelling), an… |

The Will to Change $12.99 With the courage, honesty, and compassion that have made her one of America’s most provocative authorities on modern culture, bell hooks takes on the interior lives of men and answers their most intimate questions about love. Everyone needs to love and be loved — even men. In this groundbreaking book, bell hooks gets to the heart of the matter and shows men how to express the emotions that are a fundamental part of who they are — whatever their age, ethnicity, or cultural persuasion. Written in response to the author’s in-depth discussions with men who were inspired by her trilogy, All About Love, Salvation, and Communion, bell hooks’s The Will to Change addresses maleness and masculinity in new and challenging ways. With trademark candor and fierce intelligence, hooks answers the most common concerns of men, such as fear of intimacy and loss of their patriarchal place in society. She believes men can find the way to spiritual unity by getting back in touch with the emotionally open part of themselves. Only through this liberation will they lay claim to the rich and rewarding inner lives that have historically been the exclusive province of women. Men can access these feelings by giving themselves permission to be vulnerable. As they grow more comfortable and start believing that it’s okay to feel, to need, and to desire, they will thrive as equal partners in their intimate relationships. Whether they are straight or gay, black or white, The Will to Change helps men to reclaim the best part of themselves. |

Be the Change $14.99 Meet the men and women whose deeply personal philanthropy is dramatically changing the way we think about giving There are 8.6 million millionaires in the United States, and these numbers are set to rise in what will be the biggest intergenerational wealth transfer in history. As $41 trillion dollars (or over three times the national GDP) moves from the World War II generation to their baby- boomer children over the next couple of decades, it will become imperative that the beneficiaries of this wealth—even those not joining the ranks of the superrich—begin thinking about philanthropy, perhaps for the first time in their adult lives. Here they will find the personal journeys of the most successful givers of their generation. This new generation of wealth has already begun to change the face of philanthropy and to reshape the entire nonprofit sector. In Be the Change , bestselling author Lisa Endlich presents eleven compelling profiles of this twenty-first century generosity. Through candid, revealing, and often surprising interviews, readers will venture into the hearts and minds of the top names in philanthropy today—men and women who have chosen to use their immense riches and influence to meaningfully improve the lives of others in the most dramatic ways. These intimate conversations include in-depth interviews with: Melinda Gates, one of the driving forces behind the largest philanthropic organization the world has ever seen; Bob and Suzanne Wright, he’s the former vice chairman of GE and longtime head of NBC Universal and their Autism Speaks has brought awareness of autism onto the national and international stage; Paul Tudor Jones, founder of Tudor Investments and the Robin Hood Foundation; Peter Bloom, founding chairman of the groundbreaking DonorsChoose.org . From Connie Duckworth, a former Goldman Sachs partner, who brings steady employment to Afghani women and education to them and their children, to Johann Olav Koss, an Olympic gold medalist who now strives to give children in the direst circumstances the chance to play, these philanthropists demonstrate that giving doesn’t begin or end with a signed check. They grant Endlich exclusive access to the stories of how they learned from early failures and developed a personal, sustainable way of giving, and they also share the catalyzing moment when they saw a problem so heartbreaking they simply could not turn away. In doing so, these new philanthropists offer valuable lessons—ones that will inspire readers to start giving, keep giving, and become the change they want to see in the world. |

How to Help People Change $9.99 Change is the essential goal of the counseling process, as the author reminds us. This book provides us with an explanation of the idea that ‘substantial change requires the alteration of the heart.’ |

How To Help People Change $12.99 “”While touching on many aspects of counseling, this book . . . is specifically designed to elucidate the process of counseling. I have often mentioned and illustrated that process, but not in the focused and systematic way that the four-step biblical process is set forth here . . . . This book presents a fresh perspective not only on how to counsel, but also on what measures to take at what stages of counseling.” (from the Preface) Change is the essential goal of the counseling process. And Christian counselors recognize, as the author is so concerned to remind us, “Substantial change requires the alteration of the heart.” How does a Christian counselor work in order to bring about this kind of change? The answer is found, of course, in Scripture — in 2 Timothy 3:14–17, to be specific. Jay Adams is well-known as a counselor who bases his whole approach to counseling on Scripture. This book offers the interested reader an unparalleled opportunity to see both how he discovers and applies biblical principles and the way in which Scripture functions as the basis of his approach to counseling. This book answers not only the question “How does a counselor help people change?” but also “How does Scripture operate as the source of a counselor’s method?” It is a book that has much to say about the ongoing discussion of the relationship between theology and psychology in the enterprise of Christian counseling.” |
